Tips to help you enjoy all you have planned.

Safely Make the Most of Your Vacation

Summer Sun

Sunshine makes everyone happy. Keep your family smiling through the heat and protect sensitive skin from the sun. Remember you can get burned even on cloudy days. Likewise, plan accordingly when the forecast calls for excessive temperatures.  Avoid sugary, caffeinated and alcoholic drinks to remain cool and stay hydrated. Dress for the weather, seek air-conditioned areas as needed, and remember to always use sunscreen.

Jet Ski Safety

Did you know that personal watercraft accidents cause far greater injury than other boating mishaps? So if mechanized water sports are part of your summer adventure, remember life jackets! Lives can be saved by wearing life jackets when participating in water adventures. In many states, it’s the law for children under 13 to wear life jackets on the water.

Swimming Safety Reminders

If your summer vacation involves swimming, remember, swimming in an ocean, lake, pond or river is different from swimming in a pool. You may have to battle strong currents, big waves, debris, and bad weather. Protect yourself from these and other swimming hazards with these tips.

Boating Safety Reminders

Is boating on your summer activity schedule? Participation in a water or boating safety course is recommended. Always wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket on the boat and let someone know where you're going before you head out. Boats should only be operated during fair weather and weather changes quickly. Keep an eye on the forecast. Don't participate in high-speed sports in low-light or after dark to further keep it safe.
