Summer Interns learn the power of support

When University of Illinois student Daetwon Terrell was ticking off boxes preparing for his State Farm® summer internship, he was ready for the early morning start and the work in the Claims Department. Once Daetwon settled in for the months ahead, he noticed something unique about his internship – something that wasn’t on his checklist.

“My experience as an intern has shown me that networking within State Farm is an easygoing process since everyone wants to help,” Daetwon says. “Even if the person you reach out to cannot help, they'll lead you to someone who can. I was surprised how informational and relaxing the environment is at State Farm.”

Ava Caiola, a graduate student at Arizona State University, had a similar experience with her technology internship.

She says, “I was constantly surprised by the feeling of community and the strength of personal relationships between everyone in the hybrid/remote environment. I never felt like I was on an island, whether I was working from home or having an in-person team week.”
