State Farm® Helps Customers Recover From Western Wildfires

Download

Our hearts go out to the families and communities affected by the Spokane, Washington-area wildfires.

State Farm has mobilized catastrophe claims teams and deployed onsite resources to help customers recover. Most of our customers have never experienced an event like this. It's stressful and we know they have questions and concerns. We're here for them, working alongside local agents who live and work in eastern Washington to help customers begin the recovery process as quickly as possible.

So far, State Farm has provided over $80 million to customers impacted by the Spokane wildfires. We have received over 800 home and auto claims from the fires, and we expect this number to increase. At this early stage, the majority of our customers filing these initial claims are reporting severe damage and/or uninhabitable homes. We know how devastating this is for customers and we’re here to help.

Customer interactions

State Farm claim handlers have talked with hundreds of customers at these locations so far, listening to their stories, gathering information about their losses, and helping families address immediate needs – such as coverage for temporary housing and advance payments for food, clothing and other essentials, where applicable.

It can be incredibly emotional.

Cesar Soriano

“One man only evacuated with the clothes on his back and his sandals. His belongings were destroyed including his medicine. He started crying at the site while we were helping him. Some people haven’t had time to grieve yet, so it gets emotional for them.”

~ Cesar Soriano, Claims team member

Kevin Louden

“Quite a few people we know have been displaced. I was driving back to town on Saturday when claims first started coming in. A lot of people have lost their homes, personal belongings and the memories tied to those items, so we’re doing our best to help them through that. Our physical presence in the midst of this devastation is critically important.”

~ Kevin Louden, Claim Specialist - Proximity
