State Farm® responds to Hurricane Isaias

Download

Our hearts go out to the people whose lives and property have been impacted by Hurricane Isaias. Our greatest concern is for the safety of everyone in the impacted areas.

As of Oct. 19, State Farm has received over 9,000 total claims across the states that have been impacted by Isaias, and we anticipate many more as people have the opportunity to return to their homes and survey the damage. The states with the highest claim counts are Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.

How to file a claim

Customers are always welcome to reach out with questions or concerns. We are here to help. State Farm customers can submit and manage a claim through the channel that works best for them:

  • Call or email your State Farm agent
  • Call 1-800-SF-CLAIM
  • File in the State Farm mobile app
  • File online at statefarm.com/claims
  • Text “CLAIM” to 62789 to receive a link to file a claim

What to expect after filing a claim

After a claim has been submitted, a claim handler will contact the customer to discuss the extent of damage, review what is covered under their policy, and discuss inspection timing if needed.

  • To best assist customers during this time, we may involve various members of our claim handling team to help with a claim. This helps us provide quality and efficient claim service no matter how many claims we receive.
  • If customers have questions at any time during the claim process, they should not hesitate to ask their claim handler. We are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Making temporary repairs to damaged property

When it is safe to do so, customers with repairable or limited property damage should make reasonable temporary repairs to help prevent additional damage. Depending on the customer’s coverage, the cost of these temporary repairs may be reimbursed. Customers should save receipts for tarps, plywood and any other materials purchased to protect or temporarily repair damaged property.

Tips to help protect customers from fraud and scams

We encourage anyone seeking storm-damage repairs to learn how to recognize and avoid scams and deceptive contractor practices. Additional information is available in Help Protect Yourself From Contractor Fraud on statefarm.com.
