State Farm® responding to Hurricane Milton
In addition to opening in-person Customer Care Sites across impacted areas, State Farm has donated $1.75 million in disaster relief funding to provide additional support
Our hearts go out to the people whose lives and property have been impacted by Hurricane Milton, and our greatest concern is for the safety of everyone in the impacted areas. State Farm is here to help you navigate through this challenging time.
State Farm has donated $1.75 million to help non-profits continue to provide emergency shelter, food supplies and hygiene items for people in the communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This disaster grant funding will help assist American Red Cross, Convoy of Hope, Midwest Food Bank and Feeding the Carolinas in their Helene and Milton relief efforts. This relief funding helps provide additional immediate support for critical needs as communities recover.
At State Farm, we are dedicated to serving our customers in times of need. Our commitment extends beyond just providing insurance coverage. We are here to offer support, guidance and assistance when our customers need us most. To customers impacted by Hurricane Helene, we are here for you. Our dedicated team of professionals is working diligently to process claims and provide customers with assistance during the recovery and rebuilding process.
Members of the State Farm Catastrophe Response Team® — the largest catastrophe response team and fleet in the insurance industry — are working to assess covered damages and provide claim handling help for policyholders. Based on covered damages, an advance on claim payments could be provided to help meet immediate needs such as temporary housing, transportation and food.
In addition to the teams of catastrophe claim specialists responding on the ground to evaluate damage after the storm, our Milton response includes State Farm agents who live and work in the same neighborhoods as our customers. They are joined by thousands of employees in centralized care centers across the country virtually helping answer customers’ questions and file their claims. Our remote claim teams also can conduct virtual inspections with impacted customers following the storm, helping them in their time of need.
As of Sunday morning (10/13/2024), State Farm has received almost 10,000 total auto and homeowner claims in Florida from Milton. These claim counts could be expected to increase as more residents are returning home to discover and report damage from the storm.
Customer Care Sites
Several State Farm Customer Care sites were opened for customers to file a claim and get answers to general questions in person. State Farm also participated in the various state-run insurance villages. Due to customer activity, those sites have since been closed, but claims associates and State Farm agents continue to help customers through the claims process.
Leveraging technology to help customers file claims
State Farm is leveraging technology by providing virtual claim handling options to customers who have damage from the storm. Homeowners and drivers can benefit from virtual ways to file a claim and receive payment to start repairs.
Customers with damage can:
- File and track their claim from the convenience of their phone or other electronic devices.
- Electronically submit photos, video and other claim documentation.
- Participate in video calls with their claim representative as available.
- Experience streamlined and efficient claim settlement, with payment being deposited directly to customer’s preferred bank account.
